2017.04.04 Walker Street ImageEKV Design have released the first image of a new £2 million regeneration scheme in Eastwood, which received the go-ahead from Broxtowe Borough Council last month. The proposal comprises 16 new homes on the site of the former Victory Club, which will be developed by Hodgkinson Builders in partnership with Futures Housing Group.

The 0.75-acre site has been disused for the last four years, with the working men’s club building falling into a state of disrepair. The plans involve a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom properties, which will be offered for both shared ownership and private rent in a bid to help local families and first-time buyers get on the property ladder. Grant funding support from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) will allow enabling works to start on site later this month.

Ian Hodgkinson, Managing Director of Hodgkinson Builders, said: “These plans present an opportunity to help meet the growing demand for affordable housing in the local area and will provide high-quality housing for people requiring good quality housing in Eastwood.”

The planning application was initially submitted to the council in September 2016 with EKV Design providing full architectural design services and CDM2015 consultancy and BSP Consulting providing the civil and structural engineering design.

Helen Brown, New Business Manager at Futures Housing Group, said: “We are excited about investing in Eastwood and meeting the needs of the local people, whilst creating a positive impact on the existing site for the local community.

“By encouraging people to invest in property in the area, we hope to meet a demand for the lack of housing, but also support young people, families and even local businesses through the increased footfall new residents will bring.

“The development at Eastwood is part of Futures Housing Group’s commitment to helping solve the UK’s housing crisis through our £147m development programme which will help us deliver 1,000 new homes by 2020.”
